HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Last week was a very busy one with Red Ribbon Week.  I hope everyone has a safe, fun Halloween night.  I am planning on giving the students time to work on things in class to cut down on homework tonight.  I understand it is difficult to get dinner, get ready, then do trick-or-treating.  I still have to move at the same pace at school, but I tried to make it easier for you.  Also, just a reminder...our next math test is on Thursday.  It will count on first quarter grades.  The quarter officially ends on Friday, November 4.  Report cards will go home next week.  Speaking of next week, prepare for a SHORT week!!!!

Week of October 17, 2011

I hope everyone enjoyed the warmer weather outside.  This is a short week.  Students do not have school on Friday.  It is Teacher Inservice Day.  This is a little bit of an odd week since it is also REVIEW WEEK in Reading Street.  This means no spelling homework/test, no small group books/work, and no fluency work.  We will be reviewing the target skills for Unit 1 daily.  Homework will be practice on these skills.  The week will end with a Unit One Test on Thursday.  We also have the Unit 3 math test on Tuesday.  The study guide was placed in their folders Friday.  We will be reviewing it tomorrow.  We will continue studying plants in science and completing some ongoing observations.  Reminder...our class goes to the book fair on Thursday morning at 10:50.

Here is the HOMEWORK for the week.  Students should read nightly.  As always, it is subject to change.  :)  Have a great week!!!!

Week of October 3, 2011

Happy October!!!  I hope this finds you all doing well.  It seems like fall came in a hurry.  It has been a mad dash to get out the long pants and long sleeve shirts at my house.  Please check the weather daily, the fourth graders go outside for recess on cool days.  We remind them to take their jackets/sweatshirts outside with them.  Last week, many kids told me that they didn't wear either.  As the days get cooler, I worry that they will get cold.

Our first math test has been completed.  I finished up interventions on them Friday.  We have been working on multiplication facts and are moving forward this week.  We will be taking a look at addition and subtraction word problems.  In science, we are finishing up the process skills.  We will have a quiz on Thursday.  Just a reminder, Interim Reports will be sent home on Friday.  This is a way for you to see how your child is doing so far.  It's a way for us to check in with each other.

Here is the homework for the week....subject to change if necessary.  Have a GREAT week!
